About Our House System
Our house system is an important part of school life.
Each child is allocated a house team that they represent.
Our House Teams are named after significant, inspirational figures:
- Alan Turing
- Katherine Johnson
- Florence Nightingale
- Charles Darwin
- Floella Benjamin
Children who display good behaviour choices, manners, effort and excellent work are awarded House Points. If they are awarded a House Point they are given a coloured counter to add to their class totaliser. Each week these counters are counted. A whole school totaliser in the school hall is used to show the total number of House Points for each house on a weekly basis.
Each year two pupils from Year 6 are elected as House Captains from their house. These children are democratically elected by their houses and then liaise with the teaching staff to organise house events and lead and encourage their house.
Each term the house team with the highest total of house points has their ‘house flag’ flown outside of the front of the school on our school flag pole.
