Designated Safeguarding Staff
Section 175 of the Education Act 2002 places a statutory responsibility on the governing body to have policies and procedures in place that safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are pupils of the Burton End Primary Academy.
The staff and governors of Burton End Primary Academy are committed to protecting and safeguarding all their pupils to ensure, as far as possible, that they are free from harm and safe. Burton End Primary Academy recognises that children sometimes suffer abuse from those who should be caring for and protecting them and from one another. Abuse can take place within any socio-economic group and can occur at home or in institutions, including schools.
Burton End Primary Academy abides by the policies and procedures for dealing with child protection as outlined by the Suffolk Safeguarding Children Board (Suffolk SCB).
At Burton End Primary Academy we understand that from time to time family and home life can have its complications. At these times, our families may require some extra help and support. Our early help offer document explains how we can support and advise our families during these times.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) has lead responsibility for dealing with all safeguarding issues at our school.

One of our Safeguarding Leads is always available to discuss safeguarding concerns.

Working in partnership
There are occasions when our concern about a child means that we have to consult other agencies. Whilst we would always aim to work in partnership with parents there may be exceptions to this when concerns are raised for the protection of a child.
